Modern History:
Historical Migration Research, European Migration Policy, Labour Migration, Humanitarian Refugee Admission, European Modern History; Privacy and Computerisation in the 20th century.

Dr. phil., born 1977 in Mannheim. Historian and Senior Researcher at the Insitute for Migration research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS). Main research interests: History and presence of European migration policy, humanitarian refugee reception, European contemporary history.

Studied Political Science, Medivial and Modern History at Heidelberg, Mannheim and Barcelona (UAB). 2011 PhD from Heidelberg University with a thesis on the "Europeanization of Migration Policy in the 1970s - Recruitment bans in West Germany, France and Switzerland". Scientific advisory and expert activities for the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb), the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) as well as museums and international scientific journals. Co-coordinator of the DFG Network Fundamentals of Refugee Research.

Research and networking coordinator for the Research Community of the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM-FG) at IMIS, and in the BMBF-funded project Forced Migration and Refugee Research: Networking and Transfer (FFVT).

Member of the editorial board of the Forced Migration Studies Blog and co-editor of the Journal for Refugee Research (Z'Flucht) and the Journal for Migration Studies (ZMF).
